Bandra Bay Waterfront Project Begins: BMC, Godrej Properties Plan New Promenade and Green Spaces

Bandra Bay in Mumbai is set for a fresh look as Phase 1 of a new waterfront promenade gets underway. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Godrej Properties Limited, and RC Group are working together to transform underused waterfront land into a welcoming public space with walking paths, landscaped gardens, open lawns, and family-friendly attractions.

Phase 1 to Introduce Walking Tracks, Gardens, and Public Spaces

The first phase of the Bandra Bay waterfront project will focus on creating attractive outdoor spaces where residents and visitors can relax, exercise, and spend time with their families.

The planned development includes a bayside walking track, landscaped gardens, and spacious green lawns. A lifestyle and recreation area will also feature a pet park, a literature zone, and an amphitheater, giving people more options for leisure and community activities.

The project aims to make better use of Bandra's waterfront while creating a more accessible and enjoyable environment for the surrounding neighborhood.

Future Phases to Add Mini-Golf and Sports Facilities

The waterfront transformation will continue in later phases, with plans to introduce a mini-golf course and a dedicated activity and sports zone.

These additional facilities are expected to expand the range of recreational opportunities available at Bandra Bay. From outdoor exercise and family outings to sports and community events, the planned attractions will offer visitors more ways to enjoy the waterfront.

The phased development will gradually add new features to create a destination that supports an active lifestyle and brings the local community together.

BMC Highlights Bandra's Waterfront Potential

Vishwas Mote, Deputy Municipal Commissioner, said Bandra's waterfront is one of Mumbai's valuable natural assets and has the potential to become a lively community destination.

He highlighted the project's focus on creating spaces where people can walk, spend quality time with their families, and participate in different community activities.

The initiative is expected to give residents more opportunities to enjoy outdoor spaces while making the waterfront a more inviting part of the neighborhood.

Sustainable Design at the Center of the Development

Sustainability and thoughtful planning are important parts of the Bandra Bay transformation. Rohit Mohan, Chief Design and Sustainability Officer at Godrej Properties, emphasized the importance of developing a well-designed public space that can serve the community over the long term.

The project aims to combine practical design with green spaces and recreational facilities to create a waterfront environment that remains useful and attractive for years to come.

Anup Singh, Head of Design and Regulatory at RC Group, said community needs and expectations have played a central role in the design process. He described the vision as creating a new landmark and destination for the Bandra neighborhood.

Bandra Bay Set to Become a Community Recreation Destination

The Bandra Bay waterfront project is planned to bring together nature, recreation, and public amenities in one location. With its walking track, gardens, lawns, pet park, literature zone, and amphitheater, the first phase will introduce a range of spaces for residents and visitors.

The planned additions in later phases, including mini-golf and dedicated sports facilities, will further broaden the waterfront's appeal.

Through this collaboration, the BMC, Godrej Properties, and RC Group aim to unlock the potential of underused bayfront land and create a more engaging public space for the Bandra community.
