BJP Launches Samrasta Sankalp Abhiyan in Maharashtra for Unity

The Maharashtra BJP has launched the Samrasta Sankalp Abhiyan in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar to promote social harmony, equality and unity across communities. The campaign was launched by Maharashtra BJP president Ravindra Chavan as part of nationwide events marking the 650th birth anniversary of Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas Maharaj.

The initiative aims to take Sant Ravidas Maharaj’s message of equality, fraternity and social unity to people across Maharashtra. As part of the campaign, sacred soil from Varanasi, regarded as the birthplace of Sant Ravidas Maharaj, will be carried to different districts of the state through a Kalash Yatra.

Ravindra Chavan Calls for Unity Beyond Caste and Religion

Addressing the gathering, Ravindra Chavan appealed to people to move beyond caste and religious divisions and work together toward a stronger and more developed India.

Chavan said Sant Ravidas Maharaj’s teachings continue to offer an important message for society. He emphasized the need to strengthen social harmony and ensure that people from different communities remain united.

According to Chavan, the Samrasta Sankalp Abhiyan is intended to carry forward the ideals of equality and fraternity associated with Sant Ravidas Maharaj while bringing different sections of society together.

Sacred Soil From Varanasi to Travel Across Maharashtra

The Kalash carrying sacred soil from Varanasi reached Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar through Nagpur on August 7. Chavan welcomed the Kalash as it arrived in the city.

The Kalash Yatra began at the Sant Ravidas Temple in Mukundwadi. A Kalash worship ceremony was later held at Kasliwal Maidan in the evening. During the event, Chavan also paid tribute to Sant Ravidas Maharaj and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

The yatra will travel across Maharashtra in different phases from July 2026 to February 2027. The sacred soil will be taken to all districts of the state, where special Kalash worship programs will be organized.

Campaign Highlights Sant Ravidas Maharaj’s Message

The BJP said the campaign is focused on spreading Sant Ravidas Maharaj’s teachings of equality, brotherhood and social unity.

Sant Ravidas Maharaj is remembered for speaking against social discrimination and encouraging a society based on equality and human dignity. The campaign seeks to connect these values with the broader goal of building greater social harmony across Maharashtra.

Chavan also highlighted the vision of making India a developed nation by 2047. He said achieving this goal requires collective participation and a strong sense of national unity.

He further stressed the importance of taking the message of social harmony associated with Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar to every section of society.

Leaders and Community Representatives Attend Event

Several BJP leaders attended the launch event in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Those present included BJP national general secretary Dushyant Kumar Gautam, MLAs Narayan Kuche, Babanrao Lonikar, Anuradha Chavan, Kisan Wankhede, Santosh Danve, Madhavi Naik and Suhas Shirsaath.

Former Union Minister Bhagwat Karad, former MLA Ram Satpute and several other party leaders also participated in the program.

Representatives from different religious and social traditions were also present. The gathering included members of the Warkari, Lingayat, Veerashaiva, Nath and Mahanubhav traditions, along with Vaishnav saints and spiritual leaders.

Samrasta Sankalp Abhiyan to Reach All Districts

With the Kalash Yatra scheduled to cover Maharashtra over several months, the Samrasta Sankalp Abhiyan is expected to create opportunities for people across the state to participate in programs centered on social unity.

The initiative places Sant Ravidas Maharaj’s message of equality and fraternity at the center of its outreach. Through district-level ceremonies and public participation, the campaign aims to encourage people to strengthen social bonds and work together toward a more united Maharashtra.
