Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis Launches Samruddha Panchayat Raj Abhiyan 2.0 to Boost Rural Development

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has launched the second phase of the Mukhyamantri Samruddha Panchayat Raj Abhiyan 2.0 in Nashik, highlighting the need for sustainable rural development, water conservation, and drought prevention. He assured that the state government would provide the necessary funds to support water conservation projects and improve water availability across rural areas.

CM Fadnavis Focuses on Water Conservation and Drought Prevention

Addressing the gathering, Fadnavis called on local bodies, officials, and communities to work together to strengthen rural development. He emphasized the importance of conserving water and preparing villages to manage periods of low rainfall.

The Chief Minister asked authorities to remove silt from village ponds, repair check dams, and encourage rainwater harvesting. He also stressed that drinking water must remain the top priority, while ensuring enough water for livestock and the upcoming rabi crop season.

Fadnavis further assured support for fodder supplies and farmers facing difficulties due to unfavorable weather conditions. These measures aim to protect rural livelihoods, support agricultural activities, and improve water security in villages across Maharashtra.

First Phase Records Progress in Rural Development

Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Jaykumar Gore shared the achievements of the first phase of the Mukhyamantri Samruddha Panchayat Raj Abhiyan.

According to the minister, 5,644 gram panchayats participated in the initiative. The first phase also saw the issuance of 69.13 lakh Ayushman cards and the completion of 2,706 kilometers of roads.

Progress was also recorded in rural housing, sanitation, and water-recharge projects. These achievements reflect the role of local governing bodies in improving essential services and strengthening village infrastructure.

The second phase aims to build on this progress by encouraging greater participation from gram panchayats and promoting practical solutions to local development challenges.

Maharashtra Honors Top-Performing Local Bodies

During the launch event, Chief Minister Fadnavis felicitated outstanding Zilla Parishads, Panchayat Samitis, and Gram Panchayats for their performance during 2025-26.

Nashik, Pune, and Sangli secured the top positions in the Zilla Parishad category. Adachiwadi village in Pune district earned first place among Gram Panchayats in recognition of its performance.

The awards highlighted the contributions of local governing bodies toward rural progress and encouraged other villages to improve their development efforts.

Samruddha Panchayat Raj Abhiyan 2.0 Aims for Stronger Villages

The launch of the second phase places renewed focus on water security, agricultural support, and better rural infrastructure. By combining government funding with active participation from local bodies, the initiative seeks to address village-level needs and promote long-term development.

Several public representatives, senior government officials, and village heads from across Maharashtra attended the Nashik event.

With a stronger focus on water conservation and drought preparedness, the Mukhyamantri Samruddha Panchayat Raj Abhiyan 2.0 aims to help villages manage natural challenges, protect farmers' livelihoods, and create better living conditions for rural communities.
