Eknath Shinde Announces 100 Tonnes of Foodgrains for Farmers at Shiv Sena Dussehra Rally

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced that 100 tonnes of foodgrains had been sent to distressed farmers as an advance Diwali gift during the Shiv Sena's Dussehra rally in Mumbai. He said the state government's ₹5,000 financial assistance was an initial relief measure and that further compensation would follow. Shinde also announced bicycles for underprivileged girl students and mass wedding ceremonies for daughters of farmers and families with limited financial resources.

Shiv Sena Dussehra Rally Focuses on Farmers' Welfare

Addressing party workers at the Nesco Centre in Goregaon, Mumbai, Shinde dedicated the Dussehra rally to farmers facing financial difficulties. The event also marked 60 years since the formation of the Shiv Sena.

He highlighted the importance of providing direct assistance to people in need, saying his party would focus on action rather than political speeches. The announcement of 100 tonnes of foodgrains was presented as immediate support for farmers dealing with difficult circumstances ahead of Diwali.

Shinde urged Shiv Sena workers and office-bearers to help affected farming families and ensure that assistance reached those who needed it most.

₹5,000 Assistance Is Initial Relief, Says Shinde

Shinde said farmers had the first right to the state's financial resources and emphasized the government's responsibility to support them during agricultural crises.

Recalling the damage caused by excessive rainfall, he pointed to losses affecting farmland, crops and livestock. He said the government was extending financial assistance to farmers across different categories of damage.

Clarifying the purpose of the ₹5,000 assistance announced ahead of Diwali by the Devendra Fadnavis-led government, Shinde said the amount was intended as initial relief rather than the final compensation package.

He also stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah had reviewed the situation and assured support for Maharashtra's farming community.

25,000 Bicycles Announced for Economically Disadvantaged Girls

In another major announcement, Shinde said the Shiv Sena had begun distributing 25,000 bicycles to girl students from economically disadvantaged families.

The initiative aims to support students who may face difficulties traveling to school and help them continue their education. He also announced plans to organize mass wedding ceremonies for farmers' daughters and girls from low-income families.

These measures were highlighted as part of the party's efforts to assist vulnerable communities and reduce financial pressure on families.

Shinde Criticizes Opposition Over Farmers' Issues

During his address, Shinde accused opposition parties of using farmers' difficulties for political purposes instead of focusing on practical solutions. He also criticized Uddhav Thackeray over the political developments that followed the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly election and the change in government in 2022, when Shinde led a rebellion that split the undivided Shiv Sena.

Shinde contrasted his party's approach with that of its political opponents, arguing that public welfare initiatives and direct support should take priority over political arguments.

Deputy CM Defends Electoral Roll Revision

Shinde also defended the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and questioned opposition parties' criticism of the Election Commission. Addressing allegations of electronic voting machine manipulation, he asked how opposition candidates had won elections if the machines were unreliable.

He rejected opposition demands for a change in government, asserting that an elected administration could not be removed through political slogans or public statements.

Shinde further responded to claims of an undeclared Emergency, arguing that citizens and the media continued to exercise their freedoms. He accused opposition leaders of referring to the Constitution without consistently following the ideals associated with Dr. B. R. Ambedkar.

Shinde Praises Modi's Key Decisions

The Deputy Chief Minister also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for decisions including the abrogation of Article 370 and the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.

He alleged that opposition leaders frequently targeted Modi and Amit Shah to attract public attention.

The rally combined announcements on farmer relief and social welfare with sharp political criticism. However, the central message of Shinde's address was the need to provide practical assistance to distressed farmers and economically disadvantaged families during the festive season.
