Chaurasia is the nephew and disciple of legendary flute virtuoso Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia. Over the years, he has built his own identity in the music world while carrying forward a rich musical legacy.

The award comes shortly after Chaurasia achieved global acclaim by winning two Grammy Awards in 2024. He received the honors for his work on the collaborative album As We Speak, further strengthening India’s presence on the international music stage.

“My First Government Award,” Says Chaurasia

“I feel very lucky and fortunate to receive the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi Award. I sincerely thank the jury members for considering me for this distinguished honor. What makes it even more special is that this is the first government award of my career,” he said.
