Maharashtra Approves Four New Additional Collector Offices

Maharashtra has approved four new Additional Collector offices in Baramati, Pandharpur, Dapoli and Nagpur Rural as part of a wider plan to decentralize revenue administration and make government services easier to access.

The new offices will serve residents who often need to travel long distances to district headquarters for revenue-related work. The initiative is expected to bring administrative services closer to rural communities and help reduce travel time and expenses for citizens.

New Additional Collector Offices Approved in Four Locations

The new offices will be established at Baramati in Pune district, Pandharpur in Solapur district, Dapoli in Ratnagiri district and Nagpur Rural in Nagpur district.

The decision is part of the Maharashtra Revenue Department's effort to improve administrative access in areas with large populations, wide geographic coverage and growing demand for government services.

In Baramati, the new Additional Collector office will cover Baramati, Daund and Indapur talukas. This will create a separate administrative center for revenue matters in these three areas and reduce the need for residents to travel to Pune for certain services.

The Pandharpur office will handle administrative work for seven talukas: Pandharpur, Sangola, Mangalwedha, Madha, Malshiras, Karmala and Mohol. The move is expected to make revenue administration more accessible to people in these parts of Solapur district.

Revenue Services to Become More Accessible

The new offices are expected to handle matters involving land and revenue laws, rehabilitation cases and other administrative decisions.

The government said the move will help residents access services closer to their homes. Farmers, students and other citizens may also benefit from easier access to certificates, land record changes and other government-related services.

By shifting some administrative responsibilities away from district headquarters, the new offices are also expected to help distribute the workload of existing collectorates.

Decision Approved Under Chief Minister's Direction

Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule approved the decision following directions from Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. A Government Resolution has been issued for the creation of the four offices.

The decision takes into account factors such as increasing population, the distance between rural areas and district headquarters, staff workload and rapid urban development.

The government has said the broader goal is to make revenue administration more citizen-focused and ensure that people in rural and remote areas can receive essential services in a more convenient and timely manner.

Maharashtra Also Approves 47 New Additional Tehsildar Offices

Along with the four Additional Collector offices, Maharashtra has approved 47 new Additional Tehsildar offices across 21 districts.

These offices are planned in several rural and remote locations, including parts of Gadchiroli, Nagpur, Palghar, Pune, Satara, Nashik and other districts. The additional offices are intended to bring revenue services closer to local communities and improve access to government schemes and documentation.

The combined expansion of Additional Collector and Additional Tehsildar offices represents a broader effort to strengthen local administration and reduce the need for citizens to travel to major district or taluka centers for routine government services.
