Under the leadership of IAS Sanjeev Jaiswal, MHADA continues to see strong demand for affordable housing across multiple income categories. While applications close on May 28, EMD payments can be completed until May 29 before the authority publishes the provisional and final applicant lists in June.

The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) Lottery 2026 has received an overwhelming response from aspiring homebuyers, with more than 87,000 applications submitted for 2,640 affordable homes across Mumbai. May 28 marks the final day for submitting applications, while applicants can complete their Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) payments until May 29.

The strong response comes as MHADA, under the leadership of Vice President and CEO IAS Sanjeev Jaiswal, continues to witness growing public trust in its housing initiatives, driven by a focus on affordable housing, transparent allotment processes and the creation of new homeownership opportunities across Mumbai.

Strong Participation Reflects Growing Demand for Affordable Housing

According to MHADA data, a total of 87,239 applications had been received by the final day of the application process. Out of these, 61,153 applicants had already paid their EMD, confirming their participation in the lottery.

The substantial response highlights the continued demand for affordable housing in Mumbai, particularly among middle-income and economically weaker sections seeking homes in well-connected urban locations.

EMD Payment Window Remains Open till May 29

While the application submission process closes on May 28, applicants who have already submitted their forms can complete EMD payments until May 29. Payments can be made online until 11:59 PM or through RTGS and NEFT transactions during banking hours on the same day.

Officials have advised applicants to complete payment formalities within the stipulated timeline to ensure their applications are considered valid for the computerized lottery draw.

Draft And Final Lists to Be Released in June

Following the completion of the application and payment process, MHADA will publish the provisional list of applications on June 10. Applicants will be given an opportunity to submit claims and objections before the final list of eligible applicants is released on June 16.

The computerized draw schedule and venue will be announced subsequently by the housing authority.

Homes Available Across Key Mumbai Locations

The MHADA Lottery 2026 offers 2,640 housing units across several prominent Mumbai locations, including Vikhroli, Goregaon, Borivali, Bandra, Powai, Chembur, Ghatkopar, Dadar, Wadala, Gorai and Mankhurd.

The lottery includes homes across multiple income categories, providing opportunities for buyers from Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), Lower Income Groups (LIG), Middle Income Groups (MIG) and High-Income Groups (HIG).

With the final application deadline now ending, thousands of applicants are eagerly awaiting the next phase of the process as MHADA moves closer to conducting one of Mumbai's most anticipated affordable housing lotteries of the year.
