MHADA Mumbai Lottery Draw: New Date Expected Soon

Thousands of applicants waiting for the MHADA Mumbai housing lottery may soon receive clarity on the long-awaited computerized draw. The lottery, which covers 2,640 homes across several parts of Mumbai and caters to different income groups, has been delayed as the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority works to finalize the event schedule.

The delay has been linked to the availability of senior government leaders who were being considered to attend the lottery event. However, MHADA officials have indicated that the draw will be scheduled shortly, even if a senior political leader is unable to attend.

MHADA Lottery Date Expected to Be Announced Soon

The Mumbai Board lottery has already gone through several changes to its application and draw schedule. The application deadline was first extended from April to May 14 and was later extended again to May 28.

MHADA had initially planned to conduct the computerized draw on June 5. The event was subsequently moved to June 30, but the draw could not be held on that date either.

The final list of eligible applicants was released on June 16, leaving thousands of homebuyers waiting for the next announcement.

According to an MHADA official, the schedule was affected by the model code of conduct during the Maharashtra Legislative Council elections and later by the Monsoon Session of the state legislature. With the legislative session now over, the authority has been working to finalize the lottery date.

Senior Officials Being Considered for Lottery Event

MHADA had approached senior state leaders, including the chief minister, a deputy chief minister and the minister of state for housing, regarding their availability for the event.

Their busy official schedules have made it difficult to select a date that works for everyone. However, MHADA has indicated that the lottery will not remain pending indefinitely.

If the senior leaders are unavailable, MHADA Vice President and CEO Sanjeev Jaiswal is expected to preside over the draw.

The upcoming MHADA Mumbai lottery offers 2,640 apartments across different income categories. The scheme includes homes for the Economically Weaker Section, Low Income Group, Middle Income Group and High Income Group.

The homes are spread across several prominent Mumbai locations, including Dadar, Tardeo, Wadala, Goregaon, Borivali, Gorai, Bandra, Vikhroli, Ghatkopar, Chembur and Powai.

The extended wait has created uncertainty for applicants who have already paid their Earnest Money Deposit. Many homebuyers have been regularly checking the MHADA website for an official announcement about the draw.

One applicant said they had submitted applications for two HIG homes and paid an EMD of Rs 1.5 lakh for each application. With the draw still pending, the applicant said the money has remained with MHADA since the payment deadline.

Another applicant highlighted that more than 70,000 people had reportedly paid EMDs and requested a clear timeline for the lottery.
