MHADA Painting Contest: 50 Students Showcase India’s Freedom Vision

50 School Students Bring Independence Day Themes to Life Through Art

Mumbai: The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) marked India’s 80th Independence Day with a special painting competition for school students on the theme, “Colours of Freedom, Picture of the Future.” The event was held at MHADA Headquarters in Bandra East, Mumbai, and received an enthusiastic response from young participants.

A total of 50 students from Classes 8 to 10 of Principal Janardan Laxman Shirsekar Educational Institution, Mahatma Gandhi Vidyamandir, Bandra East, took part in the competition. Through their paintings, the students expressed their ideas about freedom, patriotism, national unity, social responsibility and the future of India.

Young Artists Share Their Vision for a Better India

The competition was organized under the guidance and vision of MHADA Vice President and Chief Executive Officer Sanjeev Jaiswal. The initiative aimed to help students understand that Independence Day is not only a celebration of freedom but also an opportunity to reflect on the responsibilities that come with it.

Students were encouraged to explore themes such as freedom, unity in diversity, environmental protection, social responsibility, equality, cleanliness and the vision of a developed India. Their artwork reflected their thoughts on India's growth and highlighted the importance of a clean, peaceful and inclusive society.

Sanjeev Jaiswal Encourages Students to Think Beyond Celebration

Addressing the young participants, Sanjeev Jaiswal congratulated the students and appreciated their creativity and social awareness.

He said the paintbrushes held by today's students represent the ideas that can shape the India of tomorrow. Through the “Colours of Freedom, Picture of the Future” initiative, MHADA sought to encourage children to understand freedom not only as a right but also as a responsibility toward the country and society.

Jaiswal noted that the ideas reflected in the students' paintings showed their awareness of important social issues. He said that an imaginative, sensitive and responsible younger generation will be one of the key strengths of a developed India.

MHADA Connects Young People With Social Responsibility

The initiative also reflected MHADA's broader connection with families across Maharashtra. As an organization associated with the housing aspirations of millions of people, MHADA views itself as a large family.

Bringing the younger generation into this community and encouraging them to develop sensitivity toward society was an important part of the painting competition. The program provided students with a creative platform while also encouraging them to think about their role in building a better future.

Students Receive Certificates, Badges and Prizes

MHADA provided the participating students with the painting materials required for the competition. Every participant received a certificate and a special badge as a gesture of appreciation and encouragement.

Students who secured first, second and third places were honored with trophies and prizes. The winning paintings were selected by experienced judges who assessed the entries on several factors, including color combination, creativity, interpretation of the theme, presentation, social message and overall impact.

The teachers who accompanied the students were also felicitated during the event in recognition of their support and encouragement.

The painting competition turned Independence Day into an opportunity for young students to express their hopes for India. Their colorful artwork offered a positive message about freedom, responsibility, unity and the shared vision of a stronger and more developed nation.
