MHADA Plans 1,400 Affordable Homes in MMR Under PMAY, With Prices Starting at ₹20 Lakh
The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) is taking another important step toward making affordable housing accessible to low-income families across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). Through its Konkan Board, MHADA plans to construct 1,400+ homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), with estimated prices ranging from ₹20 lakh to ₹22 lakh.
The initiative aims to help families from economically weaker sections achieve their dream of owning a permanent home. Under the leadership of IAS Sanjeev Jaiswal, Vice President and CEO of MHADA, the authority continues to focus on expanding affordable housing opportunities and supporting planned urban development across the region.
MHADA's 1,400 Affordable Homes Planned Across Ambernath and Kalyan
The proposed 1,400 homes will be developed across different locations in Ambernath and Kalyan. Construction work on approximately 950 homes is already underway, while the remaining 450 homes are awaiting the required approvals.
MHADA's Konkan Board has planned these housing projects in multiple phases to ensure more affordable homes become available to eligible families within the next three years.
The location-wise development plan includes:
- Kochkuntavali, Ambernath: Construction of 600 homes has already started.
- Shivganga Nagar: A project comprising 350 homes is planned, and its proposal is awaiting approval.
- Morivali: MHADA plans to develop 102 homes, with the tender process to be undertaken.
- Ghoteghar, Kalyan: Construction work on 348 homes is currently underway.
These projects will increase the availability of budget-friendly housing options for families who find it difficult to purchase homes at prevailing market prices.
MHADA PMAY Homes to Cost Between ₹20 Lakh and ₹22 Lakh
One of the major highlights of this initiative is the affordable pricing. The proposed PMAY homes will have a carpet area of approximately 320 square feet, with estimated prices ranging from ₹20 lakh to ₹22 lakh.
The pricing is expected to make homeownership more accessible to families from the economically weaker sections who are looking for affordable housing in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
MHADA plans to complete the construction of all 1,400 homes within the next three years. Once the projects are ready, eligible applicants will have an opportunity to purchase these homes through a transparent computerized lottery system.
MHADA Strengthens Its Commitment to Affordable Housing in Maharashtra
The Konkan Board's housing initiative reflects MHADA's continued efforts to provide affordable homes to citizens and create better residential opportunities across the MMR. By developing homes in Ambernath and Kalyan, the authority aims to support families seeking reasonably priced housing with access to the wider Mumbai metropolitan area.
Through the MHADA’s Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana is working to turn the dream of homeownership into reality for more low-income families. The planned development of 1,400 homes is another positive step toward inclusive housing and long-term urban development in Maharashtra.
