Mumbai Metro One Launches WhatsApp Digital Passes for Easy Travel

Mon Aug 17 2026

New DG-Pass Service Lets Commuters Buy Trip and Store Value Passes Online

Mumbai Metro One has introduced a new digital travel pass service on WhatsApp, making daily Metro travel easier for passengers on the Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar corridor.

The new DG-Pass facility allows commuters to purchase digital passes directly through WhatsApp without needing a physical travel card, a separate mobile app or a visit to a ticket counter. Passengers can choose between a Trip Pass and a Store Value Pass and complete payments using UPI, debit cards or credit cards.

The digital passes can also be added to Google Wallet and Apple Wallet, allowing commuters to keep their travel passes conveniently on their smartphones.

How to Buy Mumbai Metro One Digital Pass on WhatsApp

The new service is available through Mumbai Metro One's existing WhatsApp ticketing platform. Commuters can follow three simple steps:

  1. Send "Hi" to Mumbai Metro One on WhatsApp at +91 9670008889.
  2. Select "Book Now" and then choose "Digital Pass."
  3. Select either the Trip Pass or Store Value Pass and complete the payment.

Once the payment is successful, the digital pass is issued electronically. The process does not require passengers to download another application or create a new account.

Two Digital Pass Options for Different Travel Needs

Mumbai Metro One has designed DG-Pass to suit commuters with different travel patterns.

The Trip Pass allows passengers to purchase a fixed number of Metro journeys in advance. Any unused trips remain available until they are used, giving regular passengers more flexibility.

The Store Value Pass works like a prepaid travel balance. Commuters can add a chosen amount to the pass, and the applicable fare is automatically deducted after each journey. The balance can also be recharged digitally when required.

This gives frequent travelers the option to choose a pass based on how often they use the Metro.

Digital Pass Service Expands WhatsApp Ticketing

The DG-Pass initiative builds on Mumbai Metro One's WhatsApp ticketing service, which was launched in November 2022.

The earlier service allowed passengers to purchase single-trip QR tickets through WhatsApp. With DG-Pass, the operator has expanded the system to include multi-trip and stored-value travel options.

The move is expected to make Metro travel more convenient for passengers who want to avoid repeated ticket purchases and reduce time spent at ticket counters.

Mumbai Metro One Marks 12 Years With Over 125 Crore Passengers

The Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar Metro corridor completed 12 years of operations in June 2026. Since its launch, the corridor has served more than 125 crore passengers, highlighting its important role in Mumbai's daily public transportation network.

Mumbai Metro One has also introduced several technology-focused ticketing services over the years, including mobile QR tickets, WhatsApp ticketing and integration with the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) network.

Mumbai Metro One Focuses on Smarter Commuter Services

Shyamantak Choudhury, CEO of Mumbai Metro One Pvt Ltd, said commuters have widely adopted WhatsApp ticketing because of its convenience. He described the Digital Pass as the next step in the company's digital journey.

According to the company, bringing trip passes and stored-value travel options to WhatsApp will give passengers greater flexibility while reducing the need for frequent ticket purchases.

The latest service is another step toward creating a simpler and more convenient Metro experience for Mumbai commuters. By combining digital payments, smartphone wallets and WhatsApp ticketing, Mumbai Metro One is making everyday travel more accessible and easier to manage.
