Navi Mumbai International Airport Boosts Ground Connectivity with New Buses, Taxis, Autos and Airport Shuttles
New transport services will connect NMIA with Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Pune and other key locations across the MMR
Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) is expanding its ground transportation network to make airport travel easier, more convenient and affordable for passengers. The new mobility plan includes electric buses, app-based taxis, autorickshaws, car rentals, prepaid services and dedicated airport shuttles.
The expanded transport network is being introduced ahead of the winter flight schedule, which will run from October 25, 2026, through March 27, 2027. The services are designed to provide passengers with more travel choices between NMIA, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Pune and other parts of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
MSRTC E-Shivai Bus Services Start October 7
The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) will begin its first phase of e-Shivai electric bus services from NMIA on October 7.
The initial routes will connect the airport with Dadar, Borivali and Pune. Services will operate from early morning through late evening, giving passengers convenient options at different times of the day.
The Dadar to NMIA service will travel through Sion and Atal Setu. The Borivali route will connect the airport with CSMIA Terminal 1, Bandra and Atal Setu. The Pune route will have two services each day, including one in the morning and another in the afternoon.
MSRTC also plans to introduce services connecting NMIA with Thane and Nashik by mid-November.
Affordable E-Shivai Fares
The fares from NMIA have been set at Rs 170 for Dadar East, Rs 210 for Borivali and Rs 450 for Pune.
Children under 12 and women traveling with a National Common Mobility Card will be eligible for a 50% fare discount.
Bharat Taxi and Prepaid Services Add More Choices
Bharat Taxi is scheduled to begin operations at NMIA on October 10, 2026, with a dedicated fleet of up to 40 vehicles.
Passengers will also have access to prepaid taxis and prepaid autorickshaws, providing additional options for reaching nearby residential and commercial areas.
App-based transportation services and car rentals are also being expanded to handle growing passenger demand.
Chalo Bus to Offer 21 Daily Airport Services
Chalo Bus will operate 21 daily services connecting NMIA with important destinations such as Marol in Andheri East, Bandra, Dadar and the World Trade Center in Colaba.
The buses will operate at regular intervals during both peak and non-peak hours. Additional capacity will be added during busy periods to support both passengers and airport employees.
NMMT Introduces Seven Dedicated Airport Routes
Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport (NMMT) will operate seven dedicated airport routes, identified as A1 through A7.
These services will connect Terminal 1 with Kharkopar, Targhar, Belapur, Nerul, Panvel, Khandeshwar and the Airport Project Office.
Bus services between NMIA and Belapur and Nerul are expected to operate every 15 to 20 minutes during peak hours. More connections to Vashi and Panvel are also planned as the airport's transport network grows.
Nearly 4,700 Vehicles and Buses Planned
NMIA is scaling up its overall ground transport capacity to 4,689 vehicles and buses. This includes 3,787 app-based taxis, 184 car rentals, 171 autorickshaws and 547 buses.
Uber Go and Uber Premier will provide options for short and medium-distance trips, with designated pickup areas to make passenger boarding easier. Uber Auto will also offer on-demand transportation for shorter journeys.
Passengers can additionally choose from prepaid taxis, prepaid autorickshaws and rental cars.
Free Shuttle to Connect Navi Mumbai and Mumbai Airports
One of the key additions is a complimentary inter-airport shuttle between Navi Mumbai International Airport and Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA).
The hourly service will be operated by Cityflo, Aarya and Chalo. It will give passengers a direct transfer option between the two airports, making it easier for travelers with connecting flights or different airport requirements.
With buses, taxis, autos, rental cars and free airport shuttles being added, NMIA is building a broader multimodal transportation network. The expanded services are expected to improve airport accessibility and provide passengers with more affordable and convenient ways to travel across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Pune and the wider MMR.
