MHADA Cuts Lease Rent for 196 Penkarwada Flat Owners, Offering Major Financial Relief
MHADA has approved a major lease rent reduction for 196 eligible flat owners in the Penkarwada housing project in Maharashtra, helping residents lower their regular housing expenses. The decision was approved by MHADA Vice President and Chief Executive Officer IAS Sanjeev Jaiswal following a proposal from the Konkan Housing and Area Development Board.
Penkarwada Flats Monthly Lease Rent Reduced From ₹2,657 to ₹298
Under the revised decision, the monthly lease rent for eligible flat owners has been reduced from ₹2,657 to just ₹298 per flat, effective October 1, 2026. This change will significantly reduce recurring housing costs and provide financial relief to the 196 beneficiaries.
The revision follows requests from residents seeking a review of the existing lease rent. After considering the proposal submitted by the Konkan Housing and Area Development Board, MHADA approved the lower amount to make housing expenses more manageable for eligible families.
Penkarwada Homes Allotted Through MHADA Lottery
The Penkarwada flats were allotted through MHADA's 2021 housing lottery, which also included two amenity units. The buildings received their Occupancy Certificate in December 2023, marking an important milestone for the housing project.
The latest decision addresses residents' concerns about lease rent and offers them an opportunity to save more on their regular housing expenses.
MHADA Focuses on Residents' Housing Concerns
The lease rent reduction highlights MHADA's efforts to review housing-related charges and respond to requests submitted through the relevant housing board. By approving the revised rate, the authority aims to provide practical support to eligible flat owners while making their housing costs more affordable.
For the 196 beneficiaries in Penkarwada, the revised lease rent brings meaningful financial relief. The decision also reflects the importance of considering residents' concerns when reviewing housing policies and charges.
