The Sneha Asha Foundation has launched a 12-week Life Skills Program in Vikramgad, Palghar district, to help tribal students build confidence, develop practical skills, and explore future education and career opportunities. The initiative began on October 13, 2026, at S.K. Agro Tourism, where around 400 students gathered for the launch event. As part of the program, 50 tribal schoolgirls received bicycles to make their daily journeys to school easier and encourage them to continue their education.
Sneha Asha Foundation Supports Girls' Education in Palghar
The bicycle distribution was a key highlight of the launch. Many girls in the region walk long distances to reach school because transportation is not easily available. Providing bicycles is expected to reduce their daily travel challenges and help them attend classes more regularly.
The event was attended by Padma Shri award-winning tribal folk artist Bhiklya Ladkya Dhinda Baba as the chief guest, along with Sneha Asha Foundation founder and president Siddhi Jaiswal.
The program also celebrated the cultural heritage of the Warli tribal community. Bhiklya Ladkya Dhinda Baba performed the traditional Tarpa musical art, while school students from Palghar presented folk dances and other traditional performances. These activities highlighted the region's rich cultural traditions and encouraged students to take pride in their heritage.
12-Week Program to Build Essential Life Skills
The Life Skills Program will support students in Grades 5 through 10 at four tribal residential schools across Vikramgad and Jawhar talukas. The initiative focuses on five key areas: financial literacy, practical English, life skills, soft skills, and career preparation.
Students will learn through interactive discussions, games, group activities, and practical exercises. The sessions aim to improve their communication, leadership, teamwork, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
The program will also introduce students to everyday financial skills, including saving money and managing personal finances. They will receive guidance on expressing their ideas confidently, exploring higher education, choosing skill-based courses, and understanding vocational training and employment opportunities.
Digital literacy and a basic introduction to artificial intelligence (AI) are also included in the program to help students understand emerging technologies and prepare for a changing world.
Four Tribal Residential Schools to Benefit
The initiative will be implemented at the following schools:
- Karhe Ashram School in Vikramgad taluka
- Kurje Ashram School in Vikramgad taluka
- Dabhosa Ashram School in Jawhar taluka
- Vinwal Ashram School in Jawhar taluka
Schools, teachers, parents, and local community members will work together to support the program and help students benefit from the learning opportunities.
